Ultrasound-Guided Shoulder Injections

This hands-on course is designed to provide practical skills in performing the most common shoulder injections under ultrasound guidance, with a strong focus on precision, safety, and clinical efficiency.

The practical training emphasizes correct positioning of the patient, the clinician, and the ultrasound probe to optimize needle visualization and injection accuracy. Participants will practice injection techniques using basic phantoms as well as thin needles on each other, allowing for a realistic and confidence-building learning experience.

Great emphasis is placed on establishing clear and reproducible clinical routines, including preparation with sterile gel, proper skin disinfection, and structured workflows to ensure that all injections are performed in a safe, controlled, and professional manner—for both the clinician and the patient.

To participate in this course, basic knowledge of shoulder ultrasound is required.

Additional topics covered:

  • Delegation procedures and clinical routines related to injections

  • Fundamental pharmacology and collaboration with the delegating physician

  • Risks, contraindications, and potential side effects

  • Hygiene principles, including aseptic non-touch technique versus sterile technique

This course is ideal for clinicians who want to refine their injection technique, improve safety, and increase confidence when performing ultrasound-guided shoulder injections in clinical practice.
